This year, in celebration of International Friendship Day, major celebs including Yara Shahidi, Chance the Rapper, and Gigi Hadid took to social media to share photos with some of their BFFs, highlighting how they stay true to one another. Lucky for us, Gigi — who is a huge Disney fan herself — answered a few questions for us about her love of Disney and the power of friendship.
What are some ways you celebrate friendship?
Gigi: Making time for your friends is a way to celebrate them. It lets them know you care about keeping up with how they’re doing, even when you’re both busy, which is important.
What does it mean to you to stay true to your friends?
Gigi: I think that staying true to your friends means that you’re dependable and hold each other accountable. It’s a relationship that is not scared of boundaries or assertiveness. That’s what builds mutual respect and trust. A mature friendship means you don’t necessarily have to talk every hour or day, but you always make time to let them know you’re there when they need you.
Which of the Sensational Six are you most like and why?
Gigi: I think that we can all resonate with different members of the Sensational Six for different reasons. I like and relate to different qualities of them all.
What do you think has made the Sensational Six stay true friends for so long?
Gigi: They all bring something to the table. They’re not afraid to be themselves, and celebrate their differences as well as their similarities.
How do the Sensational Six inspire you and your friendships?
Gigi: I really appreciate my friendships that have lasted for years, some even decades, where each of us is on our own path but we still find time and ways to support one another and connect the trajectories. I think we can say the same for the Sensational Six; through everything, they stay true to one another as well as themselves.
