East High, here we come! Our heads are in the game now that we’ve witnessed the new trailer for High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, premiering with the launch of Disney+ on November 12. Set at the real-life East High where the original movie was filmed, the 10-episode scripted series is a modern take on the classic film from 15 years ago. Will we be diligently following each episode and singing our hearts out? You can bet on it. Cast members Joshua Bassett, Oliva Rodrigo, Matt Cornett, Sofia Wylie, Julia Lester, Larry Saperstein, Dara Reneé, Frankie A. Rodriguez, Kate Reinders, Mark St. Cyr, and showrunner Tim Federle revealed the trailer at the D23 Expo showcase presentation — also inviting 3,600 lucky fans to watch the first episode in the D23 Expo Arena.
The original series follows a group of students as they countdown to opening night of their school’s first-ever production of “High School Musical.” Show-mances blossom, friendships are tested while new ones are made, rivalries flare, songs are sung, and lives are changed forever as these young people discover the transformative power that only high school theater can provide. The talented up-and-coming cast even showed their Wildcat spirit at D23 Expo with their live performance of “We’re All In This Together,” which will always be a bop. One thing is for sure, these kids will carry on the legacy of High School Musical.
