Dive into an ocean-inspired fingerpainting project featuring Nemo and Dory! Get creative with watercolor and tissue paper to build a colorful, coral-filled ocean. Add handprint art to personalize the adventure.

Time: 30 minutes

What You'll Need

  • Blue, yellow and orange washable paints
  • Paintbrush
  • 2 pages of white construction paper (and extra pages for spillover finger painting!)
  • Blue watercolor paint (found in a simple rainbow set)
  • Tissue paper in green, pink, and other coral colors as desired
  • Black permanent marker
  • Glue

How To Make It

  1. Use blue watercolor to paint the ocean.
  2. Carefully cut out coral and seaweed shapes from tissue paper.
  3. Glue seaweed and coral shapes into place.
  4. Use a paintbrush to apply orange paint to your little one's hand. Paint three stripes to create Nemo. Press gently onto the second page of white construction paper.
  5. Use a paintbrush to apply blue paint to your little one's other hand. Add spots of yellow to create Dory's details. Press gently onto the same page as Nemo.
  6. Use permanent marker or paints to add Nemo and Dory's eyes and mouths. Carefully cut out and glue onto the ocean artwork.

Note: All cutting should be done by an adult.
