Here at Disney Style, we’ve been fans of Leslie Kay, and Disney bounding in general, since she launched her blog, DisneyBound, in 2011. We STAN the color palettes, the subtle details, and personal style that goes into creating each character look. It’s no surprise to us that over the past eight years, Disney bounding has taken off as a global phenomenon with a community of “Disney bounders” over half a million strong.
DisneyBound: Dress Disney and Make It Fashion by Leslie Kay walks readers through every step of the Disney bounding process, from choosing the outfit to spreading good vibes. We had the opportunity to ask her a few questions about her latest achievement.
Disney Style: What are you most excited for people to learn from this book?
Leslie Kay: I'm most excited for people to learn the ins and outs of Disney bounding and to see the unique takes that the community puts into their own outfits! We've been able to include so many faces from the Disney bounding community and it's thanks to them that Disney bounding is what it is today.
DS: How do you find inspiration for each new Disney bound?
LK: I find inspiration from all sorts of places when putting together a Disney bound outfit. Sometimes it's from a specific article of clothing, sometimes it's from the character's personality. With the changing of seasons comes new fashion trends and styles—there's always a lot of new inspiration as a new season rolls in.
DS: What is one of your favorite looks you’ve ever put together?
LK: My answer to this question changes weekly. My most recent favorite was an outfit I made for Anna's look in Frozen 2! I feel like her look and style really comes through just by using common articles of clothing that you could find at your mall or in your own closet!
