It’s been a little over a year since Pixar released the incredible SparkShort “Loop” on Disney+, but we’re still touched by the beautiful story of friendship between Marcus and Renee, Pixar’s first-ever autistic character.
For those who haven’t yet seen this moving short film, “Loop” is the story of a teenage boy named Marcus (Christiano Delgado) who is asked to take Renee, a mostly nonverbal autistic girl, on a canoeing trip during summer camp. Renee is voiced by actress Madison Bandy (who also has autism), and director Erica Milsom worked with consultants from the Autistic Self-Advocacy Network to ensure that everything that went into this short film felt genuine.
If you’ve seen “Loop,” you know that one of Renee’s primary means of communication and solace comes from a ringtone on her phone. In celebration of this beautiful short, Pixar is releasing Renee’s iconic ringtone to the public! (And fun fact: it includes a performance by director Erica Milsom herself!)
